NFF Approves Name Change for Nigeria's Top Football League

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially renamed the nation's premier football league. The change of name from the Nigeria Professional Football League to the Nigeria Premier Football League was ratified during the 79th NFF Annual General Assembly held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday.

The decision to alter the league's name was part of several significant resolutions reached during the Annual General Assembly, as stated in a communique issued afterward.

This move followed an earlier communication from the NFF to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board, clarifying that only the NFF Congress held the authority to change the league's name. The NPL board had previously unveiled a new logo and name for the league.

NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, expressed his gratitude to the Congress for their trust in him and the Executive Committee members during the recent elections.

The renaming of the league marks a significant development in Nigerian football, with the Nigeria Premier Football League set to usher in a new era of competition and excitement for football enthusiasts across the country.
