EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE SURGES TO RECORD HIGH IN WAEC 2024

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reported a troubling increase in examination malpractice during the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to WAEC, a total of 1,457 candidates were caught engaging in various forms of malpractice, including impersonation, bringing in foreign materials, and collusion.

WAEC has cancelled the results of the affected candidates and vowed to prosecute those found guilty. The council has expressed disappointment over the high rate of malpractice, stating that it undermines the integrity of the exam.

The increase in malpractice has raised concerns about the quality of education and the moral values of students. WAEC has called on parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to join hands in combating examination malpractice.

WAEC's Head of National Office, Mr. Patrick Areghan, cautioned that the council would no longer condone any form of malpractice and is committed to upholding the integrity of the examination.
