MASS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS ESCAPE TRAGEDY AS BRT VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE ON THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE

Six National Diploma (ND) 1 Mass Communication students from the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, narrowly escaped tragedy when the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle they were traveling in caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge while en route for a beat assignment. 

The incident occurred on Thursday, January 30, 2025, causing panic among passengers; however, fortunately, no lives were lost.Preliminary reports indicate that one student sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention. Efforts are ongoing to establish contact with all six students to confirm their well-being.

In an official statement, the President of the Association of Mass Communication, Comr. David Marvellous, expressed gratitude for the students' safety and emphasized the association's commitment to their well-being and security. 

“By divine mercy, their lives were spared. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured student and remain hopeful that such incidents never occur again,” the statement read.

The association also reaffirmed its dedication to academic excellence and student safety, assuring that necessary support measures are being implemented.The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures in public transportation.
