Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has praised the groundbreaking ceremony of the LNG plants in Ajaokuta as a significant milestone in the state's ambition to become a key center for energy and industrial development in Nigeria.

The project, which includes the construction of five mini-liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, is expected to enhance energy access, create job opportunities, and attract substantial investments to the state.

Governor Ododo described the project as a historic moment that will redefine Kogi's role in Nigeria's energy sector. "This project is not just about gas production; it is about economic transformation, job creation, and ensuring that our state plays a central role in Nigeria's energy future," he stated. He also reiterated his administration's commitment to developing a skilled workforce to support the opportunities arising from new investments in the emerging energy sector.

The LNG plants are projected to have an initial combined production capacity of over 80 million cubic feet per day, positioning them as a vital resource for both national and international energy markets. Governor Ododo commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership in advancing Nigeria's energy transition and acknowledged the NNPC and its private sector partners for their investments in the state's energy infrastructure.

Ekperikpo Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), also praised the president's executive order aimed at accelerating the development of the LNG plants. He emphasized that these projects align with the federal government's initiative to maximize Nigeria's gas potential and bolster industrialization efforts.

The construction of the LNG plants is anticipated to invigorate economic activities in the state. Governor Ododo has assured investors of his administration's commitment to creating an enabling environment, ensuring peace and security, and attracting more strategic investments to Kogi.
