A new CNN poll reveals that the American public's view of President Donald Trump's presidency is largely negative, with disapproval outweighing approval.

The survey finds that 52% disapprove of Trump's performance in office, while 48% approve. This reflects a consistent trend observed in previous polls, indicating a continued divide in public opinion regarding the direction of the country under Trump's leadership.

Despite a slight increase in approval ratings compared to his first term, President Trump faces a public largely skeptical of his policies. While his approval rating stands at 48% ahead of his upcoming address to Congress, a majority (45%) view his policy proposals as leading the country in the wrong direction, compared to 39% who believe they are on the right track.  Furthermore, a significant majority (52%) feel Trump has not prioritized the country's most important problems, highlighting a broader concern about his leadership priorities.

Partisan divides remain stark, with only 18% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents expressing concern over Trump's priorities.  Conversely, less than 10% of Democrats believe he is focused on the right issues.

Demographic trends in views of the president remain consistent, with younger adults (ages 18-34), Hispanic adults, and Black adults expressing significantly lower approval ratings. Women continue to disapprove of Trump's presidency at a higher rate than men.  Trump maintains strong support among White adults without a college degree, with an approval rating exceeding 60%.

Younger Americans are most likely to view Trump's policies as detrimental, with a majority (51%) believing they are taking the country in the wrong direction.  Black and Hispanic adults also express significant disapproval of Trump's policies and priorities. Independents lean towards negative views of Trump's policies, with a 20-point gap between those who see his policies as leading the country in the wrong direction versus the right direction.

While opinions remain divided, a significant portion of the population is still forming their views on the impact of Trump's policies. Approximately one-quarter of independents, 21% of Americans of color, and 18% of those under 45 report having no opinion on the matter.

The CNN Poll was conducted by SSRS from February 24-28 among a random national sample of 2,212 adults drawn from a probability-based panel. Surveys were conducted online or by telephone with a live interviewer.
