In a move that has shocked many Nigerian users, Google has announced a significant price hike for its Google One subscription service in the country. Effective March 28, 2025, the monthly subscription fee for 100GB of Google Drive storage will increase from ₦950 to ₦1,900. The annual subscription price will also rise from ₦9,500 to ₦19,000, marking a 100% jump.

This price increase has left many Nigerian users wondering about the justification behind the hike. While Google has not provided specific details behind the decision, industry experts point to increased operational costs and currency exchange rate fluctuations as possible factors.

"This price increase is a significant blow to Nigerian users who rely on Google Drive for their storage needs," said a Lagos-based tech analyst. "Many users may be forced to explore alternative storage options or adjust their subscription plans."

Google One subscribers in Nigeria can review their storage needs and adjust their plans before the price increase takes effect. Users can cancel or change their subscription at any time through the Google Play store.

The price hike is set to take effect on March 28, 2025. Nigerian users are advised to plan accordingly to avoid any disruptions to their storage services.
