BURUTU—The Ojobo Development Forum (ODF) staged a peaceful protest over the weekend, condemning the removal of the Torugbene-Ojobo road project from the 2025 Delta State budget. The group, representing the Ojobo community in Burutu Local Government Area, urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to reverse the decision, citing the hardship it will cause residents.

Demonstrators held placards calling for the project's reinstatement, emphasizing its importance as a lifeline for the community. They expressed disappointment with the state government's lack of response to their multiple letters on the matter.

In a statement, ODF President Chief (Amb.) Ondakare S.L. Fufeyin stated that the forum is "gravely enraged" by the project's exclusion and called for its restoration to alleviate the hardship faced by residents of Ojobo and neighboring communities. The 13.205 km road project, which connects the communities along the Bolou-Toru River and creeks, was removed from the budget without explanation, according to the statement.

The ODF urged the Delta State Government to reconsider its decision and include the project in the budget, emphasizing its importance to the community's development and well-being.

The ODF President lamented that despite being an oil-producing community hosting the Osuopele Oil Field and Beniseide Flow Station, Ojobo has suffered severe infrastructural neglect and remains disconnected from other communities.

The Ojobo Development Forum (ODF) is demanding the immediate reinstatement of the Torugbene-Ojobo road project in the 2025 state budget, with a clear commitment to funding.
