Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal expressed concern over recent defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking after a PDP zonal meeting in Kaduna, Tambuwal attributed the defections to "stomach infrastructure" rather than the people's interests. He suggested that politicians with a conscience would not join the APC given its current policies and the country's economic hardship.

Senator Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, expressed concern over recent defections from the PDP to the APC, stating that no politician with a conscience would join the APC given its current policies and the economic hardship faced by Nigerians. He urged like-minded Nigerians to work together to ensure the APC is voted out by 2027.

The PDP Northwest zone reiterated its commitment to providing leadership and moving the country forward, vowing to oust the APC from power. The meeting emphasized the need to swiftly resolve internal conflicts at the national level.

Despite the outcome of the 2023 election, the PDP Northwest zone acknowledged its strong grassroots support and national followership, urging party members to remain united and work towards success in the 2027 election.  The party resolved to work together to oust the APC from power, stating that "in the Northwest, all hands will be on deck to make sure that we clear the bad leadership of the APC in Nigeria."

Notable dignitaries present at the meeting included former Kaduna State Governor Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and PDP National Youth Leader Muhammed Kadade Suleiman.
