OGITECH SU ELECTION: SUECO Activities On Hold as Manifesto Postponed Till Further Notice. - Glory Thomas

All activities of the Students Union Electoral Comittee (SUECO) has been put on hold as the manifesto scheduled for today, 30th August, 2022 postponed till further notice.

In a communique released by the institute students union president, Comrade Azeez Usman early today, it was stated that all activities should be suspended as the NANS National convention is witnessing delay wish makes it impossible for all Union Presidents to leave Abuja. 

"The NANS National convention is witnessing delay wish makes it impossible for all Union Presidents to leave Abuja. If this continues despite all efforts that is been put in place, then any local election shall also be put on hold as "No local election is allowed to take place while the National convention is ongoing".

The students parliamentary council (SPC) of the institute supported the president decision.

According to Hon Speaker, 

Moses Tayo.A, "Having received a communiqué from the office of the Student Union President, in person of Comr. Azeez (Akogun), signalling the  suspension of all Student Union Electoral Commission activities. 

"It is so denounced, that the Student Union Electoral Commission (SUECO), has been carrying out some activities that put the Student Union Constitution in futile."

"In accordance with  section (67), subsection (c) of the Student Union Constitution act (2019). The power of the electoral commission shall screen all it aspirant and have the power to clear or reject candidature of any aspirant, and this shall be subjected to the decision of SPC*.  On this note, I RT. HON. Moses Tayo. A , the union Speaker of our great citadel of learning, hereby interpret this law to the student populace that this is out of our (SPC) awareness." 

"Together we stand, divided we fall*  With all regards to the Student Union Electoral Commission (SUECO) 2022 led by Mr. Afolabi Sodiq, we hereby stand with the union President on his voice that *All activities  of the SUECO should be put to  hold  immediately, till further notice* which is the voice of the masses, the voice of the Students, the Voice of all alutarians" Hon. Speaker concluded

SUECO in reaction to this, therefore postpone the supposed manifesto slated for today, in a communique.

"The SUECO committee, under the leadership of Afolabi Sodiq hereby announce to all Aspirants and the entire student populace that the SUG Manifesto program has been on hold till further notice.

Another day to be communicated in due course."
