The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engineer Joseph Utsev, has initiated a tour of water project sites in the southwest, including Osun State. The objective is to enhance water supply for Nigerians and ensure cost-effectiveness across all Ministry projects.

During his three-day inspection tour, the Minister visited the Ilesa Water Dam in Kajola and the Ife Water Dam at Ogudu, among other sanitation projects. He expressed concern that the current water supply is inadequate and promised to explore environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions.

The Minister stated, "We are touring the South West Zone to boost water supply for Nigerians. The Ilesa Dam, for instance, needs to be upgraded to supply enough water to the treatment plant for onward supply to the inhabitants."

Osun State Commissioner for Water Resources, Sunday Oroniyi, described the Minister's visit as a positive turnaround for the Ilesa and Ile-Ife water projects. "The Minister's fact-finding mission will help identify the problems and find solutions to complete the projects," he added.

The Federal Government's commitment to revamping water projects nationwide aims to provide adequate water supply for citizens and ensure accountability in the Ministry's projects.
