Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, highlighted the Federal Government's commitment to economic diversification through substantial agricultural investments in a discussion with Mr. Cornelius Adebayo of the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency (NALDA). He encouraged NALDA to explore innovative approaches such as greenhouses and expanding arable land.
Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, commended the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for its efforts in saving the government N1.7 trillion by addressing procurement loopholes from 2009-2022. He highlighted plans to align the BPP Act with international standards and assess staff compensation.
Additionally, President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the National Council on Procurement, emphasizing the importance of BPP Act amendments. Gbajabiamila also acknowledged the Bureau of Public Enterprises' (BPE) N1 trillion remittance since 1999 and stressed the need for improved performance following BPE's revenue shortfall in early 2024.
At the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), he reiterated the government's commitment to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and electricity generation in Nigeria's energy strategy. This visit, part of a broader initiative to bolster state institutions, included key officials Sen. Ibrahim Hadeija and Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi, covering NALDA, BPP, BPE, NAEC, and NASENI.
