On Friday, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, reassured candidates applying for admission through its Open Distance eLearning mode that they will receive equal rights and privileges as students on the main campus.

Adebowale highlighted that distance learning students at the University of Ibadan receive the same certificate and NYSC service eligibility as on-campus students. He emphasized equal access to quality education, resources, and opportunities for both DLC and regular students.

The physical classroom mode, with limited capacity, requires UTME for selection, while the UIDLC offers flexible learning without UTME. Adebowale underscored the ODeL mode's virtual, borderless learning environment taught by UI lecturers, transcending physical constraints.

In his statement, the Director of UI DLC, Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, emphasized the Center's role in providing access to quality education for professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals in remote areas. He described the UI ODeL as a beacon of hope for those pursuing higher education despite physical or logistical challenges.

Omobowale highlighted that candidates can gain admission to the University of Ibadan through the UI DLC without the need to take the UTME. He explained the process of admission through the DLC's entrance exam, offering an alternative path for those who didn't sit for the UTME but aspire to study at UI.

Furthermore, he encouraged candidates who scored 40 or above in the UTME but didn't meet the cut-off to consider switching to UI-ODeL through UIDLC. Omobowale assured that education through ODeL at UI holds the same value and prestige as traditional on-campus education, ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
