IMSU ADMINISTRATION DEFIES ASUU STRIKE, CONDUCTS LAW FACULTY EXAM DESPITE NATIONAL DIRECTIVE

Despite the national directive from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for an indefinite strike due to the Federal Government's failure to address their welfare concerns, the administration of Imo State University (IMSU) has proceeded to conduct examinations for students in the Law faculty on Thursday, defying the union's orders.

The ongoing ASUU strike has halted academic activities across all affiliate universities in Nigeria, aiming to address critical issues like inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and unmet agreements with the state government.

Final-year law students at the University have expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged compromise of their academic rights by the University management. ASUU's stance is firm: no academic activities should proceed until their issues with the Federal Government are resolved.

The decision by the law faculty to conduct exams has sparked discontent among students, with many feeling undervalued and disadvantaged. According to Mr. Godwin Ejike, a student in the Faculty of Social Sciences, the situation is unjust, and students deserve a conducive academic environment. He highlighted concerns about fairness in grading and the overall educational integrity.

Students are advocating for dialogue between the university administration and ASUU representatives to address these issues and find a resolution that upholds academic standards and student rights.
