In Onitsha, Anambra State, a landlord, Tochukwu Nnaji, is currently in critical condition after allegedly being stabbed by his tenant, Chukwuneke Ebehu, during a dispute over an unpaid electricity bill of N9,250. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 9:43 p.m.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Nnaji described the attack, claiming that Ebehu used a poisoned dagger to stab him multiple times. He is now hospitalized at Lumen Christi Hospital in Iyiowa Layout, Odeke, and may require surgery due to the severity of his injuries.
Nnaji noted that Ebehu, a mechanic from Izza, Ebonyi State, had been a trusted tenant, having previously worked on his car before renting from him. He also identified Ebehu’s workshop location as Kala Mechanic Village, Okpoko.
“This is how I ended up on Friday night. My tenant, an Abakaliki man from Izza, Ebonyi State, stabbed me with a poisonous dagger around 9:43 p.m. on Friday. Till now, I am fighting for my life in the hospital over an unpaid NEPA bill of N9,250,” Nnaji wrote.
He shared photos of the alleged attacker, urging the public to assist in bringing him to justice. The incident has sparked outrage among community members, many of whom are calling for a thorough investigation and legal action against the suspect.
Local authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident, but the public has been encouraged to provide any information that could help in apprehending the suspect.
