The Secretary of the Giving Back Initiative, Alhaji Sagir Bafarawa, has reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable citizens.
He highlighted key focus areas, including healthcare, education support, water supply, food distribution, and economic empowerment. According to him, additional social intervention programs are in the pipeline to further alleviate economic challenges.
Speaking at an event, the District Head of Arkilla in Wamakko Local Government Area, Aliyu Hassan, commended the former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, for his continued commitment to humanitarian service. He described the initiative as a remarkable act of compassion and prayed for divine blessings upon the founder.
The Giving Back Initiative was officially launched on September 18, 2024, with an initial donation of N1 billion from Alhaji Bafarawa. The former governor stated that the contribution was a token of appreciation for the trust and confidence the people of Sokoto State placed in him during his two-term tenure.
Bafarawa emphasized that while he delivered the dividends of democracy during his time in office, he continues to feel a strong sense of responsibility toward the people. He expressed a deep desire to give back to society beyond his political career, ensuring that citizens receive sustained support.
The initiative aims to provide immediate relief to struggling communities while fostering long-term solutions to economic and social hardships. Programs under the scheme will focus on enhancing access to quality healthcare, education, and economic opportunities.
Stakeholders have lauded the initiative, noting that it reflects true leadership and a commitment to social welfare. Many beneficiaries have already begun to experience the impact of the program, with food distributions and financial aid reaching those in need.
As economic difficulties persist across the country, Bafarawa has assured the public that his initiative will continue to expand its reach. He called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to join hands in building a more inclusive and supportive society for all.
