The leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for worsening economic and social conditions in the state and country. He stated that citizens have endured enough suffering under the APC's leadership.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Hadejia, Ringim condemned several state government policies, arguing they fail to address the needs of ordinary citizens. He specifically criticized the recently launched citizens’ engagement program, claiming it does not effectively allow citizens to voice their concerns.
“A common man should be allowed to speak his mind, even if it is against the government’s interest,” Ringim stated. He lamented the increasing hardship faced by Nigerians and urged both state and federal governments to take urgent action to improve citizens' lives, emphasizing that many people are struggling to survive.
The government must prioritize education, healthcare, job creation, and agricultural development, according to Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim. He emphasized that every policy and program should be designed to uplift the common man, with a serious commitment to effective implementation. Ringim noted that improvements in these sectors could lead to a decrease in poverty and crime, including theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
He reaffirmed the NNPP’s role as an opposition party, stating it is their duty to hold the government accountable and advocate for policies that alleviate the suffering of the people. Ringim also urged the electorate to reflect on their experiences under the current administration and make informed decisions in future elections.
