The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) swept all 30 chairmanship and councillorship positions in the Osun State local government elections held on Saturday, according to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).

OSIEC Chairman Hashim Abioye presented certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen, urging them to serve as "good ambassadors of democracy" in their conduct and service to the people.  The PDP commended the electorate for participating in the elections.

The Osun State chapter of the PDP expressed gratitude to the electorate for their resilience in the face of challenges during the local government elections.

Party Chairman Sunday Bisi commended voters for their peaceful participation, despite attempts to disrupt the process by security agents. He acknowledged the "needless provocation and harassment" from compromised security personnel, particularly the police, and praised the voters for standing firm in their democratic rights.

Bisi highlighted the attempts to undermine the will of the people through biased opinions and unlawful advice, but emphasized that the voters ultimately prevailed in choosing their representatives at the grassroots level.  He stressed the importance of the peaceful conduct of the election and the voters' successful navigation of the challenges posed by anti-democratic elements.
