President Bola Tinubu has called for all stakeholders in Rivers State to adhere to the rule of law, emphasizing its importance for peace and prosperity.
During a meeting with representatives of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Tinubu stressed the need for respect for the judiciary, highlighting its role in upholding democracy and fostering harmony.
His comments come amidst ongoing tensions between former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the current Governor Sim Fubara.
The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, who is aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.
The ruling reinstated 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike, effectively challenging Governor Sim Fubara's attempts to control the state assembly. This decision is likely to further escalate tensions between the two political factions in Rivers State.
