Vice President Kashim Shettima has landed in New York to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
According to a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), Shettima arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport today.
VP Kashim Shettima was warmly welcomed in New York by a delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar; Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani; Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa; Nigerian diplomats, UN officials, and other dignitaries. The Vice President's arrival marks Nigeria's active participation in the 79th UNGA Summit.
Following President Bola Tinubu's directive, Shettima leads Nigeria's delegation to the UNGA, where he is set to deliver Nigeria's national statement and engage in various high-level discussions.
This year's UNGA provides a crucial platform for Nigeria to address global challenges, advocate for national interests, and contribute to shaping international policies.
