The Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone has dismissed recent protests staged by some members of the Igbesa Town Landowners’ Association as a sponsored effort, alleging that it was orchestrated by individuals within the community with ulterior motives. The protest centered around accusations of land encroachment by the zone, claims that the free trade zone vehemently refutes.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Timilehin Ajagunna, the zone maintains that the allegations are untrue and that the protest was instigated by certain entities seeking to undermine the zone's operations. Ajagunna emphasized that the establishment of the zone dates back to the tenure of former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniels, who in 2007 signed a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) covering a significant land area.

The free trade zone, a crucial economic driver for the region, has consistently maintained transparency and legal compliance in its land acquisition and development activities.  The zone's management has reiterated its commitment to working collaboratively with the Igbesa community, fostering mutual understanding and addressing any genuine concerns.

Despite the recent protests, the zone remains confident in its legal standing and the legitimacy of its operations. The free trade zone is dedicated to promoting economic growth and creating employment opportunities within the region, and it remains committed to achieving these goals through responsible and sustainable development practices.

The zone's leadership has called on the Igbesa community to engage in constructive dialogue and work together to address any issues through peaceful means. The free trade zone remains open to collaborating with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure a harmonious relationship and foster sustainable development in the region.
